Morning safari
The Morning Safari is the most popular way to experience Yala
National Park. Starting at 5:00 AM, you enter the park as it
wakes up — morning mist, birdsong, and the golden light of
sunrise over the Sri Lankan jungle.
This is prime leopard territory. Block 1 of Yala has the highest
concentration of leopards in the world, and the early morning
hours are when they are most active on the trails. You also have
a strong chance of spotting elephants gathering at waterholes,
peacocks displaying in the open grassland, and crocodiles sunning
on the riverbanks.
Your safari ends by 10:00 AM — leaving the rest of your day free
to explore Tissamaharama or relax at your hotel.

Leopard safari
The Leopard Safari is our signature experience — and the reason most guests choose Menaka Safari. We depart Tissamaharama at 4:30 AM, entering Yala National Park at first light when leopards are actively hunting along the rocky outcrops of Block 1. Our experienced guides know every trail and leopard territory inside Yala. We track fresh footprints, listen for alarm calls from deer and birds, and use years of local knowledge to position you for the best possible sighting. Our guests enjoy a 70% leopard sighting rate on this tour. The tour also covers elephants, sloth bears, mugger crocodiles, water buffalo, jackals, and over 200 species of birds — including the rare painted stork and blue-tailed bee-eater. A traditional Sri Lankan breakfast is served inside the park before you return to your hotel by 11:30 AM. The Evening Safari offers a 60% chance to spot leopards, Elephants, Peacock and birds while soaking in the calming evening ambiance, ideal for a scenic wildlife experience.

Full day safari
The Full Day Safari is the ultimate Yala National Park experience. From 5:00 AM to 6:30 PM, you spend an entire day inside the park — giving you the maximum chance of extraordinary wildlife sightings at every hour of the day. Morning brings active leopards and feeding elephants. Midday reveals sunbathing crocodiles and a colourful parade of birds. By afternoon, the park shifts again — herds return to waterholes and the golden evening light makes every photo spectacular. Our Full Day Safari carries an 80% leopard sighting guarantee — the highest of any of our packages. A dedicated coolbox keeps your drinks cold throughout the day. Lunch is a traditional Sri Lankan meal served in a beautiful open-air spot inside the park, followed by fresh fruit dessert. This package is perfect for wildlife photographers, serious nature lovers, and anyone visiting Yala only once and wanting to make it count.
