Choose your safari: four time slots

We run four jeep safari options, each suited to a different priority:

  • Morning Jeep Safari, 5:00 AM to 10:00 AM: the standard early start, covering the park’s most active morning hours.
  • Leopard Jeep Safari, 4:30 AM to 11:30 AM: our most popular option, and the longest morning slot. Being first through the gate and staying out longer both improve your odds with leopards specifically.
  • Evening Jeep Safari, 2:30 PM to 6:45 PM: covers the second daily activity window, as animals wake from a midday rest and move again before sunset.
  • Full Day Jeep Safari, 5:00 AM to 6:30 PM: the most thorough option, covering both activity windows with a midday break inside or near the park.

For more on why timing matters this much, see our Leopard Safari Yala guide.

The Toyota Hilux and why it matters

Yala’s tracks range from packed dirt to loose sand and rocky, uneven ground, especially deeper into Block 1. A Toyota Hilux 4×4 handles this reliably where a smaller or less rugged vehicle would struggle, and its raised seating gives everyone in the jeep a clear line of sight over the surrounding scrub, which matters when a leopard is resting at a distance.

Your driver-guide

Our driver-guides work in Yala regularly and know the park’s resting spots, waterholes, and the alarm-call patterns that signal a predator nearby. They read tracks, coordinate with other jeeps over radio when something’s spotted, and adjust the route through the day based on where wildlife is actually active rather than following a fixed loop.

What to bring

  • Sun protection: hat, sunscreen, sunglasses
  • A camera or phone with zoom, since many sightings are at distance
  • Water, though we can advise on this when you book
  • Neutral-coloured clothing rather than bright colours

See our full packing checklist for the complete list.

Pricing and how to book

Pricing depends on which of the four safari options you choose and group size. See our full packages and pricing page for current rates, or message us directly on WhatsApp to check availability and book.

Safety on a jeep safari

You stay in the jeep at all times inside the park, which is both a park rule and the reason Yala’s wildlife tolerates vehicles as well as it does. Our driver-guides keep a respectful distance from any animal, never block an animal’s path, and follow park rules on speed and noise throughout the drive.
